What can I do not art related if I have a BFA in Illustration?
I graduated from art school in baltimore 3 years ago with a BFA in illustration, but when I moved to NYC i really lost interest in becoming an artist. i’ve had a string of odd jobs including cake decorator, personal shopper, decoupager and conference planner.
i was laid off a few months ago and am trying to find a career that i can settle into for good, but i feel like i’m pingeonholed into an art path because of my degree. i don’t want to teach and i don’t want to be an illustrator.
what in the world am i going to do? i’m really depressed over the whole thing.
you’ve clearly explained what you don’t want, but i hear no mention of what you DO want… sounds like that’s where you should start… try to forget you even have that degree, pretend you’re starting over — you might find that it helps you later on, but right now, the knowledge of that seems to be stopping you from figuring out where you want to go next (or i’m filling in too much, and you really just forgot to include your other interests in the question)
