What is the best laptop for me?
I’m thinking Future Shop, Staples, etc., (stores in Atlantic Canada)
student obtaining my Businesss Administration Certficate over 7 year period
work as admin assistant, marketing/sales coordinater
use Microsoft Office applications everyday
will download tunes, lots of research
will spend around 1K
Best things to look for are (in order):
1. Memory
2. Processor Speed (Pentium M – xxx GHz)
3. Hard Drive space
4. Extras such as CD/DVD burner, or Integrated wireless card
These are probably the most important features when looking for laptops. Try to find a laptop with the maximum sizes for each of the FIRST 3 that fit your price range. The more memory you have, the better.
Also, the reason why you want to try to buy a laptop close to the top of the line is because if you’re not very computer hardware saavy, upgrading the laptop will be difficult and costly. Additionally, because technology improves and changes so quickly, you want something that will last for a while.
In terms of brands, STAY AWAY from Compaq, I’ve had bad experiences with them. I usually choose Dell, Toshiba, and to a lesser extent Lenovo (IBM).
