A Makeover For You And Your Closet With The Ladies Of Style Fierce
I’m one of those people who can’t let go of my bright colored tops during the winter, so I just layer sweaters overtop of them, meaning they’re pretty much worn out once the weather warms up. Not that I have any reservations when it comes to shopping for new clothes, but since I have bills to pay, I can’t exactly give my wardrobe a complete overhaul. So how does a working gal with a limited amount of extra cash spruce up her wardrobe without going overboard? Spring cleaning, of course!
Once or twice a year, it’s a good idea to go through your closet and clean out anything you haven’t worn in the preceding 12 months. Anything that’s really faded, doesn’t fit right anymore or is just plain worn out can be either thrown away or donated to Goodwill. Keep anything that still fits properly, makes you feel good or is a staple piece, like a great blazer or LBD. You don’t have to worry about getting rid of all of those impulsive-buy trendy pieces because you can pack them away in clear, labeled bins in case they ever come back in style! (And yes, you can keep your Athena Warrior Goddess Halloween costume from last year.) As you clean it out and pack away your heavy sweaters and scarves in favor of sundresses and sandals, you’ll notice there’s probably way more empty space. Yay!
Unfortunately, this is what may catapult you into a shopping frenzy, buying anything summery that you can use to fill your closet. But at the end of said frenzy, you probably end up with a handful of pieces you actually like and a whole bunch of items that you really don’t wear. It’s almost like some of us need a personal shopper to stop us and say, “Do you really need to buy that same top in seven different colors?”
It’s almost like we need…the ladies of Style Fierce!
Style Fierce is, according to their website, an image consulting and personal branding firm that strives to give each client—no matter her personal style, budget or body shape—the confidence she needs to take on the world. Who doesn’t love the sound of that?!
The company was founded just last year by Jovanna and Taren, two graduates of Columbus College of Art and Design, who realized upon graduation that they both had a desire to help people look their best.
“Our goal is to give each client fierce styling tips to help them put simple and affordable looks together for everyday life,” says Taren. “We want to give them styling advice so they know what looks good on their body.”
In order to accomplish this, they offer style consultations for just $50. According to Jovanna, a typical consultation includes a discussion about what the client needs and expects from Style Fierce, and Jovanna and Taren offer style tips that cater directly to the client. The stylish twosome will also help give a client’s closet a makeover by separating clothes into “a keep, a toss and an alter/tailor pile” and then by helping the client create new looks from what he/she currently has. “It makes life convenient and affordable by just creating new looks from your closet,” Taren says. “While we love to shop, we understand that sometimes it can become costly.”
They offer additional services like a Full Image Makeover, which is basically a complete overhaul of your look—great after a terrible breakup or anytime you just want to totally reinvent yourself! There’s also Body, Style and Color Analysis, which I think every woman should have to truly know which styles look great on her and accentuate her best assets.
And these chicks are willing to travel! Jovanna says that since they are a new company, they haven’t traveled outside the city (Columbus, OH) for a client just yet, but they’re absolutely willing to! Naturally, travel expenses are added to client cost.
Taren says the best part of her job is seeing the satisfaction on the client’s face. She says, “Just to know they are happy in their own skin, confident and fierce!” She also says her favorite item in her closet right now is a good pair of torn skinny jeans because she can pair them with textured tights or cute high heels.
Jovanna stresses the importance of a person’s image and says, “I love the feeling of knowing that I helped someone look their best and maximize their image to the fullest.” Her favorite item is a rust-colored motorcycle jacket with ruffles because it’s edgy yet flirty and super versatile!
