Personal Shopper Licenses
I am thinking of becoming a personal shopper/assistant?
I want to become a personal shopper/assistant and do not know what to charge per hour or how an item gets paid for (do I pay for it and get reimbursed or does the client give me a credit card to pay for it).. Do I need some kind of license to run it? Help, I hate my current job and want to start my own business!!
My dearly departed was the personal shopper for Woodward and Lothrup in DC during her college days.
My suggestion would be to do it by the hour. Many clients can be extremely picky, and if you spend all day finding what ends up being a quite inexpensive item, your billing to that customer would equate to something far below minimum wage. It would also encourage your clients to know what they are looking for before engaging your services.
All you will need to do is register your business with your state’s Secretary of State office, and obtain an EIN ( Employer Identification number) from the Feds. The EIN is free… and in my state the registration w/ Sec State is only $25…
