Starting a Personal Shopper Business. How do I accept payment from clients?
This is what I mean:
1) Do they give me money before I shop for them or do they pay for both my service and the merchandise when I deliver the merchandise?
2) I don’t like to accept checks from people I do not know. I don’t want to take their cash–I want a paper trail. If I accept credit cards, do I get a machine to take the cards or do I just use a service like paypal?

You can arrange with a credit card clearing company to accept cards using pre-printed forms (which the company will provide). That service is a tiny bit more expensive (around 3% of the total invoice), but it’s secure and easy to use.
